ANDROID WHAT IS IT?

Android is an operating system for mobile phones and tablets,in much same way that PC's run Microsoft windows as their operating system.
It was developed by Google and in a few different versions. Mobile phones run variant versions of Android,including some tablets too, but modern designs of new tablet pc employ Android 3(honeycomb) or the latest Android 4.0 ice cream sandwich though many manufacturers still use Android 2.3 gingerbread.

Basically,the difference between 2.x and 3.x versions of Android is how they use sreen space provided.
Since Android 3.x is designed to run on Tablets,its apps have been altered to be able to fit more information on the screen at one time. It also puts all buttons for Navigation in the interface while 2.x devices tend to include some physical buttons---usually back,home,menu and search keys.

Android is open source meaning that manufacturers do not have to pay google to use it and they can modify the programme and use on their products,however,it is not possible to modify 3.0 or 4.0.
